47 weeks
We heard a number of "Gerber baby" comments in week 47. I actually thought about baby modeling for two minutes, calculating how much of her college savings she could stockpile by putting those cute smiles to good use. But it just didn't sit right with me. (What message would that send her about her value in the world?) So, instead, she can just model for me (and you, dear readers).
For weeks Sloane had been showing a very clear preference for the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear." In week 47, she started trying to verbalize her desire with a soft, breathy "bow-beh! bow-beh!" She also took her first swim class, which was pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen. As soon as I put her in the water, she instinctively splayed her arms and legs, as if paddling. She didn't even care when I submerged her face and then whole head underwater. She was like a little fish (with an adorable little ruffled booty). Her response to the water was just so natural. Scientists: here's your proof that humans evolved from sea dwellers!
Sloane also likes playing at the Creativity Museum with her pal, Soren. They got memberships in week 47 and have gone two to three times a week ever since.
They also made it to the Academy of Sciences that week.
I wonder if Sloane wishes she could join those fish underwater.
We might be priming our little fish to love diving one day. For now, we'll focus on learning to float.
