4 weeks
The slower growth trajectory feels like a gift to me. Knowing that this is the last time I'll ever have my very own baby, I am savoring every moment I have of her and I appreciate a little more time to coo over a teeny newborn. And, like Riley, Sloane likes to be held, not put down, so my aching back is grateful she's not a giant.
Sloane has up days and down. Following several tough days of fussiness and little sleep, I was feeling somewhat depressed when I wrote about her at three weeks. But her fourth week was much better and I really enjoyed spending it with her. I felt like I got my mojo back which allowed me to get out and enjoy the city during perfect weather, take a lot of walks and have sweet conversations with the little one.
When she wasn't troubled by gas, I also got to see more of her funny faces. One day she made me laugh by changing expressions so quickly that it reminded me of the cheesy interviews I used to do for d-list acting gigs. "Show me your coy face. Now act like you just won the lottery! Now go to a funeral."
Here's Sloane, pretending to audition for a commercial.
She nailed it!
