He wants to crawl
As my sister astutely observed, Riley is showing some pretty convincing signs that he wants to crawl. When on his belly, he extends his chest up as high as his arms will take him. He reaches desperately for items in front on him, flailing both his arms and his legs likes he's swimming. He pulls his knees up.
If only he could move that big belly and behind of his! Nope, sadly, his midsection is pinned to the ground. He will even pivot on his belly 360 degrees, but he just can't move those hips.
He tends to remain fairly happy while learning new things. But lately, after long bouts of trying to reach an elusive object, his spirits sometimes flag. You can see his frustration (and goofy facial expressions) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY9XehOKCC0.
