Feeling better
It appears that Riley-Bear* is on the mend. The Zantac zapped his terrible pain within half an hour of his first dose. Our poor, little hurting boy turned into a mellow, happy baby once again. Big sighs of relief all around!
And just in time to stop the big weight gain I wrote about in the last post. Look how big his cheeks were getting!
But, just when you think you've got your kid all figured out, everything changes. Sadly, this afternoon he was again inconsolable. He cried for hours, appearing to be hungry, but then cried and got mad while breastfeeding. Andy and I immediately fell into detective mode and we think we found and treated the new source of pain with a few additional tweaks to his feeding routine. We are again crossing our fingers as we've had a happy baby, sleeping peacefully for over two hours. Thank goodness.
It feels good to figure out how to help this kiddo. The little solutions we come up with to improve our parenting and meet his needs may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but they do give me some of that same sense of accomplishment my job usually does. I'm feeling pretty fulfilled just being Riley's mama. :-) Andy is too:
*The kid has already got more than a dozen nicknames, many of them animal related for some reason, including: Boy Cat, Cat Baby, Riley Bear, Meerkat, and Billy Goat.

And how about the nickname Mini me? Andy can call him that.
