Excursions

One of the views from our condo complex in Kauai.

One of the fun parts of traveling to Hawaii with another family was the many different groupings of friends we enjoyed throughout the week. Probably half the time we were all together, like when we went to Waimea Canyon. When the kids went to bed, we parents had a blast, playing games and exploring the fine art of pina colada and mai tai mixing.

We had several adventures split up by family, like when we Hazelsteins ate a long, leisurely lunch surrounded by geese and chickens, whom Riley was deeee-lighted to run around feeding ("here ducky-ducky-ducky!").

We made sure all the mamas and papas got some good downtime to relax, like when I went off to get an (awesome) massage, Katie and I spent an afternoon by ourselves at the beach and Andy took some dips in the pool. One day, Brandon and Katie went on a dive trip while we watched their girls.

Another day, they watched Rilz, including taking him, Evie and their sweet baby Cora to the pool.

Andy and I took advantage of the free babysitting to head up to a nearly deserted beach near the Na Pali Coast. It was smoking hot, but we cooled off by walking for miles through the waves -- such an awesome sensation! The beach was practically deserted and the entire scenario seemed very romantic, like we were in a movie. Thanks, Brandon and Katie!
