Reading

Riley is not much of a talker yet, but that doesn't mean he's not literary. In fact, he loves to read. Several time lately, we've stumbled upon him reading in his little chair.

Andy was especially proud last weekend to see his boy reading the official publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Science magazine.

The selection of this reading material was no accident. Apparently, Riley located our magazine basket, peeled back several copies of Ms. and chucked the Cal alumni mag before he came across Science. From the picture below, you can see that this issue of Science must have contained some pretty scintillating centerfolds.

The next day, Riley delighted in sharing dad's favorite Sunday morning routine, reading the New York Times.

Once I realized what Riley was reading -- a profile on Gloria Steinem, I was relieved that his earlier rejection of Ms. did not indicate any decline in his here-to-fore fervent feminist ideology.
