Highlights from June 2013
2013 has been supremely busy for me as I balanced an intense year of work with a growing belly. We've had great fun with Riley but also little time to share it on the blog. Now that baby girl has decided to give me a few more days of maternity leave before she comes, I thought I'd try to quickly catch my three readers up with a few highlights from the last couple of months, beginning with June.
SAN MATEO COUNTY FAIR
You know you are halfway between San Francisco and the Silicon Valley when the kids' activity tent at the county fair features gears, circuit boards, pins, springs and everything a future techie needs to build her or his first machine. Even as preschoolers, Riley and his buddy Sophia were thrilled by the challenge. Who knows what they might build some day!
It was also fun to watch which carnival rides Riley gravitated toward; if it had wheels, Riley wanted to ride it (over and over again). The kid is predictable!
PLAYGROUND FUN
Rilz spent a lot of time at various playgrounds, swinging with his pops and playing "Coneheads" with his birthday twin, Fiona.
BERRY PICKING
We headed back down to San Mateo County to soak up some sun and pick the elusive olallieberries -- my absolute favorite berries which are pretty much only available in coastal California in June. Mama was salivating for an olallieberry pie so Riley got right to work.
Rilz admired our booty and was quite proud. And the pie was delicious!
