Indiana

Team Hazelstein traveled to rural Indiana last weekend for the wedding of Andy's cousin, Alyssa. The wedding, set amongst family farms, giant tractors and a deliciously well placed Dairy Queen, provided a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. It also provided an opportunity for me to go shopping with my mom the week before and (finally!) fit into a dress in my favorite local shop. :)

Aside from great conversations with Andy's family, the highlight for me and the handsome husband-man was the water park in the town of Kokomo. Financed by the city (Your tax dollars at work! Thank you residents of Kokomo.), the $5 park included super fun adult-sized water slides and tons of mini slides, squirting toys and other toddler activities. We went to the park for Rilz, but later asked ourselves, why haven't we been doing stuff like that all along? We're just starting to enter a stage where the stuff Riley wants to do is genuinely fun for us, too, and its like a forgotten part of our own childhoods has been re-ignited for us. So much fun. I can't wait to see where parenthood guides us next.

Riley's favorite part of the trip was the flights to and from Indy. For about a month, he has been obsessed with transportation: trains, cars, planes, you name it. From the moment we stepped foot in each airport he was in hog heaven. Planes + luggage carts + workers driving tractors + flying near clouds + cups with straws = one insanely happy kid. Having heard cross-country flight horror stories from friends we thought we were in for a world of hurt.

We thought wrong. Lately, with Riley, it's good times all around.

  1. You guys are so silly. As dad and I say, he is so much like you in temperament. Just 3 happy kids!
