Point 16
Over the New Year holiday we got to introduce Riley to one of our favorite places: Point 16 in Big Sur.
Sam, a close friend of our close friend Johan, has the amazing luck to own a gorgeous, sprawling plot of land overlooking the Pacific Ocean in rustic, quiet, stunningly beautiful Big Sur. Even more amazing, Sam shares the space with friends, and invites them to join him in camping weekends throughout the year. Since Johan first invited us five years ago, we have often camped there for New Year's and Memorial Day weekend. We breathe in the fresh air, center ourselves with breathtaking views and delight in the stars that hide from us in SF. And, when nature calls, we enjoy the "Loo with a View":
We were so pleased to introduce Riley to this magical place, and even more pleased that he loved it. Point 16 is nature's playground, a distinction not lost on Rilz. He took time to appreciate the views, laughed as he snuck into tents, ran without abandon throughout the property, copied the big kids and rolled down hills and danced and clapped when other campers played guitar.
Riley even got to help Sam move firewood for the big campfire.
As we said goodbye to 2011, we counted our many blessings, including the great fortune to spend a little time at the unparalleled Point 16.

I remember the Loo. Awesome sunset. Good way to finish out the year too.
